Woodfield Teaching School Alliance
In 2013, Woodfield Sports College gained recognition as a teaching school. As a small special school their ambition has been to make a direct impact on the teaching and learning and outcomes of their pupils. At the same time they have formed partnerships with neighbouring schools and institutions to fulfil their wider role as a teaching school in the educational community.
Although their initial focus originated in the special needs and inclusion sector they now address much wider issues centred around Professional Development, Career Progression, Succession and Leadership.
During the first year the work of the Woodfield Teaching School Alliance has grown. They are training more than a dozen new teachers. They have offered placements to many other trainee teachers. They are delivering successful CPD, focused around the needs of their school and their students, but open to professional participation from the wider local educational community. They are also training a cohort of Middle Leaders and have supported three colleagues with their NPQH qualification. They have appointed a team of Specialist Leaders of Education to offer support to other schools.
Their plans for the future aim to continue this growth and consolidation process.
